Use Ligasano® Green for 24 hours, re-assess wound and apply new Ligasano® Green if required for a further 24 hours (maximum use of Ligasano® Green is 48 hours).
Application Tips:
- Cut Ligasano® Green to the size of wound and apply directly into/onto the wound bed and/or under any loose skin flaps. Hold in place with a small piece of adhesive tape if necessary.
- Place large piece of Ligasano® White over the Ligasano® Green. Ensure cover piece overlaps edge of wound by 4cm. For lower leg wound (refer to diagram), cover initial wound dressing with 2cm thick sheet of Ligasano® White depending on the size of wound. Wrap it around leg to prevent damage to tendons and development of pressure ulcers from bandages. Start dressing on one side of the wound, wrap it around the leg and overlap the Ligasano® forming a pad over the wound. Allow excess of Ligasano® White above and below the wound.
- Secure firmly with Vetrap to prevent dressing moving.
- Follow instructions for using Ligasano® White 1 or 2cm thick to continue dressing wound accordingly:
Apply Ligasano® White to skin-deep wounds, the edges overlapping the wound by 4cm.
Cut Ligasano® to shape of wound with edges overlapping the wound by 2cm. Apply to wound (compress and place into the wound) ensuring direct contact with entire wound bed. To ensure this, Ligasano® White can be compressed by up to 50%.
Deeper wounds, pocket-shaped wounds and hollow wounds should be completely padded out with Ligasano® White. Cut Ligasano® White to shape of wound with edges
overlapping the wound. Apply to wound (compress and place into the wound) ensuring
direct contact with entire wound bed. To ensure Ligasano® white bandage should
stay in situ, but can be fixed by use of a tubular net bandage or stocking.
- Cover initial dressing in wound with a larger 2cm thick piece of Ligasano® White. Ensure cover piece overlaps edge of wound by 4cm. For lower leg wounds, cover initial wound dressing with 2cm thick sheet of Ligasano® White depending on the size of wound.
Depending on wound, Ligasano® White may be left on the wound for up to 3 days. Heavily suppurating wounds should be changed daily. However, in any wound, as soon as the first sign of
secretion becomes visible on the outside of Ligasano® White dressing, dressing should be changed. Ligasano® White that has direct contact with the wound should be discarded immediately after removal.
You may notice that a bloody serus liquid is secreted from the wound. This is an important stage in wound healing and will continue for 3-5 days.
As the wound heals from the base upwards and inwards, apply smaller Ligasano® White dressings into the wound. Continue to dress as instructed above until healed.
Due to the nature of the product, Ligasano® White should not be left in or on a wound for longer than three days as granulation cells may grow into the product and cause bleeding upon removal. The overlay/wrap piece may be re-used for 5 to 7 days provided there is no visible exudate on it.
